Oscar Night 2019, the great film event, already on the night of 24/25 February! Let’s spend it together - Lodz Film School, Polish Radio 3 and the City of Lodz invite.

On the night of 24/25 February, we may witness another Polish triumph in Hollywood! Let's celebrate together the Oscar Night live at the Film School in Lodz on Radio Three! The master of the ceremony will be Ryszard "Rico" Jaźwiński ("Trójkowo, filmowo", "Cool film").
The City of Lodz is the partner of the event.

Four years later, after the triumph of “Ida” in the Best Foreign Language Film category, Paweł Pawlikowski and Łukasz Żal will return to the epicentre of noise and world attention. Early in the morning of 25 February Polish time, at the Dolby Theatre in LA “Cold War” will compete for 3 statuettes! Not only was the film nominated in Best Foreign Language Film category but also in other major categories which for years seemed inaccessible for Polish films.

Among the nominees for Best Direction apart from Paweł Pawlikowski there are: Spike Lee ( BlacKkKlansman), Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite), Alfonso Cuarón (Roma) and Adam McKay (Vice) are competing for the Best Direction Award .

We are very happy for our cinematography graduate, Łukasz Żal, and yet another (after Ida) Oscar nomination in the Best Cinematography Award. His competitors are: Matthew Libatique (A Star is Born), Robbie Ryan (The Favourite), Alfonso Cuarón (Roma) and Caleb Deschanel (Never Look Away).

In the Best Foreign Language Film category, in addition to “Cold War”, the nomination received: “Kafarnaum” (by Nadine Labaki), “Shoplifters” (by Hirokazu Koreeda), “Never Look Away” (by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck) and “Roma” (by Alfonso Cuarón).

In the rich catalogue of the hitherto successes of the "Cold War" there are among others, Palme d’Or in Cannes for Best Direction for Paweł Pawlikowski and 5 European Film Academy Awards. The visual side of the film was also appreciated many times. Łukasz Żal’s cinematography was awarded with the "Silver Frog" at the "Camerimage" International Cinematographers’ Festival. He also received the prize for Technological Achievement of the Year in the field of cinematography awarded by the "London Critics Circle" and the Bronze Camera Award at the “Manaki Brothers” International Cinematographers’ Festival.

The Oscar Night from the Film School on Radio 3 will last till 6 a.m. In the program of the author of "Trójkowo, filmowo" there will be interviews with Polish filmmakers nominated for this year's American Film Awards, Los Angeles coverage, comments and, as usual, a massive dose of film music - songs that compete for the Oscar this year and those that have already been awarded the statuettes - announces Ryszard Jaźwiński.

It will be possible to participate in our Night of the Oscars thanks to live broadcast on the Polish Radio Program 3.
