The prominent cinematographer, professor of film arts, Lodz Film School graduate and long-term lecturer at our school passed away at the age of 87.

The director of photography of such masterpieces of Polish cinema as: "Salt of the Black Earth", "Death Like a Slice of Bread", "The Beads of One Rosary" by Kazimierz Kutz, and "Decalogue I" by Krzysztof Kieślowski. Zdort co-operated on films such as "Eroica" by Andrzej Munk, "Ashes and Diamonds" by Andrzej Wajda and "Pharaoh" by Jerzy Kawalerowicz.

As a team of film-makers he worked on many films directed by his wife Barbara Sass-Zdort (such as "Without Love", "Debutante", "Scream", "Paradise Appletree", "Girls from Nowolipki", "Immoral Story", "Only Fear", "Temptation" and "Like a Drug"). In 1995, he received the prize for Best Photography for the film, "Temptation" directed by her at the Polish Feature Films’ Festival in Gdynia. In 2015, he and director, Kazimierz Kutz received the Best Director and Director of Photography Collaboration Prize at the Camerimage Festival. In 2014, he received the Life Achievement Award from the Polish Filmmakers Association. His death is a great loss for Polish film and our school.
