The Ambassador of this year’s Cinergia Festival, Jerzy Stuhr, will be our guest on 29 Nov. As the festival partner, the school, invites to CON BRAVURA film screenings .

The meeting with the actor, director and lecturer, Jerzy Stuhr, is scheduled for 29 November at 16:00. At 17:00, we invite you to a screening of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film, “Amator” with the unforgettable role of our guest, Jerzy Stuhr, who is the ambassador of this year’s CINERGIA festival featured in its poster designed by Marta Frej. Stuhr is one of the most outstanding Polish theatre and film actors. He gained film goers’ admiration with his roles in the films "Wodzirej", "Amator", "Obywatel Piszczyk", "Seksmisja", "Kingsajz", and "Kiler". Jerzy Stuhr is also appreciated in Italy and his filmography includes a number of Italian film productions; amongst others - he has worked with Nanni Moretti. Jerzy Stuhr's professional activity is not limited to performing in front of the camera. As director and screenwriter, he made his debut in 1994 with the film "Spis cudzołożnic". His subsequent films include "Historie miłosne", "Tydzień z życia mężczyzny", "Duże zwierzę", "Korowód", "Pogoda na jutro" and "Obywatel". He is a lecturer at the State Higher Theatre School in Krakow, and was its Rector from 1990-1996 and 2002-2008.

Together with the Cinergia European Cinema Forum and the National Film Archive - Audiovisual Institute, we invite you to a film review of "Con bravura: Ten Decades of Independence in Polish Cinema". The guests of individual events will be Jerzy Stuhr and Maciej Drygas. The curator of the review is Katarzyna Wajda. Admission to the screenings at the Film School in Łódź and Charlie cinema is free.

The title of the review refers to the third part of Andrzej Munk’s Eroica (1958), which eventually was not incorporated in the film, and suggests the leading theme of the review - courage, as well as different ways of understanding courage. These various faces of courage – from the stories of heroes, through undertaking difficult (often taboo) topics, breaking the existing schemes, polemic with national myths, to fidelity to personal poetics or seeking new forms of artistic expression - symbolize the films shown. The feature films and documentaries made during the pre-war era of the Second Republic of Poland, and the post-war Polish People's Republic and Third Republic of Poland, by creators of different generations, with different artistic personalities, often broke away from the traditional cinema of their time; nevertheless, they were all brave in their own way.

Each film will be accompanied by an introduction describing a given decade, and selected screenings will be honoured by the presence of guests - Jerzy Stuhr to "Amator" and Maciej Drygas for the movie, "Usłyszcie mój krzyk".
