On 22 November, at the school’s Film Club our graduate will be celebrating 40 years of his artistic work. In the program a meeting with Sławomir Grunberg and a documentary "Niedziela" about him.

Sławomir Grünberg, who will be celebrating 40 years of his creative work at the Film Club, is an award-winning director, producer and documentary film cameraman. As a graduate of the Lodz Film School Directing Department, he emigrated to the USA in 1981, since then he has directed and produced over 45 documentaries on social issues, LGBT, environmental issues, disability issues and Polish-Jewish relations. Awarded many times at international festivals - he is the winner of the prestigious Emmy award for the film „School Prayer: A Community at War” and the winner of such prizes as: Guggenheim Fellowship, New York Foundation for the Arts and Soros Justice Media Fellowship. He also won the contest named after Jan Karski, which rewards documentary films "showing moral courage" and received the DreamCatcher Award for dedication and commitment to making documentaries. He is the winner of the Golden Glan and the prestigious award of the 2009 Docboat Festival granted to the international documentary film-maker with Polish roots. Among his films there are: "Karski i władcy ludzkości", "Portrety emocji", "Santa Rosa", "Coming out po polsku", "Płonący facet" and "Trans-Akcja". Among the films on Polish-Jewish themes there are: "Nie płacz kiedy odjadę", "Powroty Szymona", "Wyrzutki", "Perecowicze", "Dziedzictwo Jedwabnego" and "Uratowani przez deportację". Two films, "Legacy" and "Sister Rose’s Passion", on which he worked as the cinematographer, were nominated for an Oscar.

In the program of the jubilee meeting on November 22, the screening of the student film "Niedziela" and a documentary on Grünberg - "Sławek Grünberg’s Film Stories " directed by Krzysztof Tusiewicz. Naturally, the guest of the screening will be Sławomir Grünberg himself. Join us for the celebration.
