It’s second time that a music video made by the crew from Film School in Łódź was selected to the golden 20 of the best music videos in the world. We take a peek on SXSW in Austin, Texas.
It’s second time that a music video made by the crew from Film School in Łódź was selected to the golden 20 of the best music videos in the world. We take a peek on SXSW in Austin, Texas.
The nominees for the music video category have been announced on SXSW festival (South by Southwest) 2018. Amongst the nominees are Jay- Z, Capital Cities and… a music video for a song by young Polish vocalist Oly “Growing Young”, it was made by the crew which last year have gone down in history of this festival as first to have nomination for Polish music video (they competed with Beyonce and Tama Impala!). A situation where someone is nominated two years in a row is very rare and unprecedented for festival as big as SXSW.
The clip was directed by Katarzyna Sowicka, now a graduate of our School, it was also a graduation work for the director of photography Adam Romanowski, then our student, today he is a graduate of our Director of Photography Department. Their works were already recognised on festivals like Berlin Music Video Awards, Raindance Film Festival and YACH Festival. USA is also interested in Katarzyna’s works – outside of having two nominations from SXSW under her belt, she also directed music video for Thundercat!
Shootings for the clip took 4 days and were made with combined efforts of students from Film School, on small location near Łódź. Film, Music and Technology Festival SXSW in Austin (Texas, USA) is the biggest event of this kind in the world. Every year it attracts more than 400 thousands. of attendants (the Festival alone had 70 thousands. people last year). Among guests of last year’s edition were film Celebrities – Ryan Gosling, James Franco, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhall, Rooney Mara, Timothee Chalamet, Michael Fassbender and more. The nomination for video clip competition is undoubtfully one of the biggest honour for this kind of film art not only in USA, but also in the world. The SXSW Festival will begin on 8th of March and will run for 12 days.
