An actor and director, Piotr Domalewski, who lately made one of the best debut films „Cicha noc”, met our acting students.

- He’s simply very keen – said Łukasz Maciejewski, quoting the words of professors from Katowice – he’d come to each class with three new script! You didn’t need to encourage him to work.

Domalewski is an acting graduate from the Krakow Theatre Academy and film direction from Radio and Television Department of Silesian University in Katowice. However, he’s been a film director for a longer period of time than an actor. Undoubtedly the year 2017 belonged to him. His full-length debut film "Cicha Noc" (Silent Night) won the Golden Lions Award – the main prize of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. Excellent cast, film critics’ acclaim and good distribution timing just before Christmas made the film an interesting proposal for cinema goers.

- As a matter of fact, it’s all down to telling a story; to relations between people – this interests me most. In a film you can focus either on images or dialogues. – said Piotr Domalewski. On the whole, he spoke about theatre (especially Wybrzeże Theatre), observing directors, making corrections of a feature film screenplay in three days, love of Mrożek, ecstatic joy having sent off the next project, and finally about the film Silent Night.
