Great triumph of Jagoda Szelc and her crew in Gdynia! During the Polish Film Festival Closing Gala our direction student collected two Prizes: for the Best Debut Film and Best Screenplay.

This year, there were 17 films in the Main Competition of Gdynia Film Festival eight of which were debut films and amongst them the winning film “Tower. A Bright Day” by our student Jagoda Szelc who also won the Best Screenplay Award. The film was made under the artistic supervision of Mariusz Grzegorzek, the Rector of the Lodz Film School, and produced by the Indeks Film Studio functioning at the school. The Studio, which was founded in 1990 as an initiative of an outstanding Polish film director and Lodz Film School Professor and Rector, Wojciech Jerzy Has, promotes our school’s most talented graduates and facilitates their artistic debut.

The members of the Festival Jury were: Jerzy Antczak (Jury Chairman), Robert Bolesto, Agnieszka Grochowska, Andrzej Jakimowski, Włodek Pawlik, Paweł Pawlikowski, Witold Stok, Beata Walentowska, Anna Wunderlich.

“Tower, Bright Day” is a film about mysterious things happening in the life of a seemingly normal family. Film Cast: Anna Krotoska, Małgosia Szczerbowska, Dorota Łukasiewicz –Kwietniewska, Anna Zubrzycki, Rafał Cieluch, Rafał Kwietniewski, Laila Hennessy, Ida Kwietniewska, Igor Kwietniewski. The director of photography, Przemysław Brynkiewicz, is our cinematography graduate. Art direction: Natalia Giza. Film Production: Indeks Film Studio; producer: Marcin Malatyński, co-producers: Lodz Film School, Centrala, Dreamsound, Heliograf, EBH.
