An outstanding film director, our Teacher has passed away today at the age of 78.

He graduated from Directing department of our School, he was also the School’s lecturer – The Teacher for many generations of filmmakers, he was granted the title of the Professor of Film Art.

Screenwriter and director of documentary and fiction films, among others: “Through and through” (1972), “Permament objections” (1974, “Pekosinski’s case” (1993), “Neighbours” (2014). For those films he received awards, among others the FIPRESCI prize at the Mannheim Film Festival (for his recognized debut “Through and through”), the Golden Lions at the Film Festival in Gdynia or the Special prize at Karlovy Vary Festival (both awards for the “Pekosinski’s case”). The author of many books focused on film theory.

He was consequent in his individual, significantly original, artistic attitude.

His passing away is a great loss for our School.

Funeral details:

The mourning mass will take place at the Jesuit Church at 60, Sienkiewicza Street in Lodz on Monday, 2nd October at 12:00 hrs. The funeral will take place at Evangelic-Augsburg Cemetery at 43, Ogrodowa Street in Lodz at 13:30

After the funeral Grzegorz Królikiewicz’ Relatives, Friends and Film Łódź Association invite to Charlie cinema (Piotrkowska 203/205), where a special meeting organized in memory of Grzegorz Królikiewicz will be held. It will start at 4 p.m. with a screening of a short film "Nie płacz" (1972), then a meeting of Grzegorz Królikiewicz’s friends and a screening of his last feature film "Sąsiady" (2014) will follow.
