We invite you to the premiere at the Film School's TV Studio on 19th of October at 13.00 – We will celebrate the opening of our online Film Archives!
Did you know, that the Film School’s Archives contain more than five thousand etudes? The oldest ones date back to 1949. Those archives consist of fiction films, documentaries and animations. Until today it was accessible only in one place, Targowa 61/63. From 19th of October - it will be available in high resolution, from every place in the world, accessible 24 hours, seven days a week and with complete information. We will start off by making one hundred of the oldest documentary etudes available on our website etiudy.filmschool.lodz.pl,. More films will be coming soon.
- Thanks to the FILM ARCHIVES internet service (ARCHIWUM FILMOWE) we are starting the process that aims to popularise the forgotten films. We have strong belief that those digitized films will be a unique tool for professionals and a source of great joy for anyone who loves cinema – the founders and managers of the Film Archives online say – the team leader prof. Maciej Drygas and Katarzyna Mąka-Malatyńska, Agata Golańska, Monika Sarwińska.
The premiere of etiudy.filmschool.lodz.pl website will be held on 19th of October (Thursday) at 13.00 in the School’s TV Studio. We will tell more about the service, screen some of the oldest etudes kept in the School and the film music improvisation will be performed by Backspace.
Among the films that we will make available on our website are not only masterpieces of short films; those first creations of polish filmmakers – there also will be failed exercises, films tainted by ideology and even training films. Outside of artistic values, there is something else of importance in those films:

Does kindergartens can raise a child to a real patriot?
What happens on a chicken farm?
What secrets lie hidden in Ms. Walewska's coffin?
How do you deliver fragile package without breaking it?

The films from School's Archives are the reminder of times past, records of reality that can not be reached by other means. We invite everyone to the journey in our time machine – not only the filmmakers and cinema historians. The event is free.
