Natalia Brożyńska, a Lodz Film School animation student, gets a prize in the "Animation" category for "Searching For Devo" at the Polish Music Videos Festival YACH FILM in Gdansk.

"Searching For Devo" is a third year student animation made under the artistic supervision of  Henryk Ryszka and  Aleksandra Chrapowicka. In the film a mechanic creature Kwadrycy discovers radio waves coming from another planet.  Intrigued by the strange tune he sets out for an expedition to find the source of the tune. Eventually he reaches an underwater world inhabited by nosy creatures.

A record "Blockhead" by Devo has been used in the film.
Devo is an American band, started in  1972. It plays music which cannot be easily classified as one specific type; the band released its first album in 1987 recorded under the artistic supervision of a rock legend, Brian Eno. Here is what Gerald Casale, band’s vocals & base guitar, has written at the band’s website: "This sincere, labor-intensive, retro stop-action animation piece from a young girl in Poland is the latest proof that music is indeed the universal language. I felt like Devo were anthropomorphized bacteria performing sonic surgery in a Blockhead's colon." At the address below you can watch Natalia Brozynska’s animation.  The musicians wish the director success at animation film festivals.

250 films sent to participate in the competition of the Yach Film Festiwal were evaluated by the jury consisting of:  Walter Chełstowski, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Robert Leszczyński and Yach Paszkiewicz. The prizes were announced and handed during the closing gala of the 22. Polish Music Videos Festival - Yach Film in Gdańsk. From the band’s fanpage: DEVO allowed Natalia Brożyńska, a young film student in Poland, to use the demo version of "Blockhead" in a short movie she created called "Searching For DEVO" as part of her film school studies. She hand-crafted all the puppets & set design herself. Gerald Casale of DEVO said this after view Natalia's movie: "This sincere, labor-intensive, retro stop-action animation piece from a young girl in Poland is the latest proof that music is indeed the universal language. I felt like Devo were anthropomorphized bacteria performing sonic surgery in a Blockhead's colon." We are told that the film will be making an appearance at a film fest or two in Europe. Goodluck, Natalia...and GREAT JOB on the movie!
