A director Mariusz Grzegorzek is rehearsing the play "Witches of Salem" with Jaracza Theatre actors in Lodz. The play is a result of a cooperation of the Lodz Film School with Jaracza Theatre.

Arthur Miller’s drama “The Crucible” is one of the most important plays of the 20th century in which religion based behaviour from three centuries before becomes a pretext for a discussion about contemporary mechanisms of manipulation and power.

The performance which commemorates the 70th anniversary of our school’sActing Dept is a result of close cooperation between the Lodz Film School and Jaracza Theatre. Amongst the cast of „The Witches of Salem” there are both acting teachers: Agnieszka Więdłocha, Ireneusz Czop, Zofia Uzelac (Dean of Acting Dept.), Michał Staszczak (School’s vice-Rector), Matylda Paszczenko and students of acting: Izabela Dudziak, Anna Paliga, Paulina Walendziak and Elżbieta Zajko.

The play is directed by Mariusz Grzegorzek, an excellent film and theatre director and Lodz Film School Rector. Here’s what he says about the choice of the play: „Although we got together to produce the performance on the occasion of a great jubilee we are not thinking about celebrations but we are focused on hard work and this moving and important play which is not only an opportunity for us to manifest our artistic potential but also an attempt to strengthen our unity not to perish in the more and more hostile world.”.

The premiere has been scheduled for 1 April, 2017 (Big Stage of Jaracza Theatre in Lodz)
