They’re undertaking an intense and dangerous journey deep into the dark recesses of their minds.

They’re searching for monsters not only within themselves, but also for those created by LOVECRAFT himself. A confrontation is inevitable and will occur at: The Student Theatre on the 18th March.

They looked for them in Warsaw, Kraków and now in Łódź. Robert Bolesto’s prose serves as their map and Łukasz Kos is their guide. They searched the nooks of Praga in Warsaw, the dank tenement houses of Zwierzniecka in Kraków and the tombs in Wawel. They set out in an effort to quell their own obsessions and understand why a contemporary Polish LOVECRAFT visited those places. All the tales of their travels will be revealed to the audience at the Student Theatre. The show’s premiere takes place on the 18th March!

LOVECRAFT will be performed by students from our Acting department. The cast will include: Aleksandrę Przesław, Karolinę Sawkę, Agatę Turkot, Dominika Ochocińskiego, Sergiusza Olejnika and Michała Stycznia. Joanna Niemirska will assist with directing, set-design and costume-design. Kamil Walesiak will be the camera operator during the production. Agnieszka Hodowana (make-up artist) and Dominik Strycharski (musician) will also be involved, with Wojciech Rodak (Director’s Assistant) overseeing proceedings. Bolesto’s text is inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, an American writer best known for his fantastical tales and for creating the Cthulhu mythology. This theatre production, based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, will be the first of its kind to be performed in Poland.

For Łukasz Kosa, LOVECRAFT represents a return to the Student Theatre where, in 2006, he premiered his excellent ‘Paw królowej’. Łukasz Kos graduated both the AT in Warsaw (theatre studies) and the PWT in Kraków (directing). Theatre productions directed by Łukasz Kos have been showcased at the New Theatre in Łódź (‘Beztlenowce’ by Ingmar Villqist and ‘Kurka wodna’ by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz), the Polish Theatre in Wrocław (‘Od dziś będziemy dobrzy’ by Paweł Sala), the Teatr Rozmaitości in Warsaw (‘Sny’ by Ivan Vyrypaev) and the National Theatre in Warsaw (‘Koronacja’ by Mark Modzelewski). This time, Łukasz Kos is adapting a text written by Robert Boleso, a playwright and screenwriter famous for his work on Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s ‘The Lust’ and Jan P. Matuszyńskiego’s ‘The Last Family’, for which he received an Eagle nomination for best screenplay.

The play will premiere on the 18th and 19th March (invite only), with subsequent performances taking place on the 20th, 21st and 22nd March. You can reserve your tickets now by calling 42 63 64 166 or visiting biletyst@filmschool.lodz.pl.
