Two Golden Masks awarded by Lodz theatre critics went to two artists who contributed to staging our students’ diploma play „Mary Stuart”, namely its director and our lecturer, Grzegorz Wiśniewski, who was granted the Golden Mask in the Best Direction category and a young actress, Maria Dębska for the role of Mary Stuart in the Best Acting Debut category. The masks were handed to the winners during the Gala ceremony held at the Opera House in Lodz.

„The play rich in strong protagonists, complex family relationships, great politics and equally great passions was a perfect material for a diploma. Lodz Film School acting students decided to recall the tragic fate of Mary Stuart supported by the text of the play written by Friedrich Schiller and the talent of the director Grzegorz Wiśniewski” – wrote in her criticism Agata Wlazło for „Teatralia.pl”.

Being granted two Golden Masks is a spectacular culmination for the play which was on at Studyjny Theatre throughout the previous academic year season. Other awards for the play include two more prizes for Maria Dębska: the Grand Prix at the 34th Drama Schools’ Festival in Lodz and the Best Actress Prize at the 26th SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER International Drama Schools Festival in Brno.
